Don’t Forget to Look Behind You for Possibilities

We have all been there.   Anticipating spectacular sunset skies when incoming clouds from the west,  shut out the magic.  When one door closes another often opens if we are just receptive to other possibilities.   This Winter I was on frozen Lake Champlain ready to take a stunning sunset over the Adirondacks.   I could see heavy clouds over the mountains to the west but there was a an opening in the clouds the sun was about to reach.  Turning around,  I saw it would briefly lit up the icy shoreline of Vermont and the city of Burlington.   I setup my tripod and camera anticipating the light. Then the sun found it’s opening and the land was transformed.

Wah lah!   I had my image.
